In 1990, Perth Mint launched the Silver Kookaburra Series as its first national silver bullion coin collection. The same year saw Perth rebrand the existing Gold Nugget Series as the Gold Kangaroo, giving the mint two major programs featuring native species from the continent.

Since 1990, Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins have been available on an annual basis at Perth Mint. The most important hallmark of this series has been the use of new reverse design elements on the coins each year.

Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of 2023 1 oz Silver Kookaburra Coins for the final time. With the Queen’s passing in September 2022, the Perth Mint will feature her effigy for the last time on the 2023-dated coins. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem.

Two kookaburras are shown here in the reverse design of the 2023 Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins. This new design shows a waratah plant filling the design field. Among its branches, two kookaburras are perched and looking toward one another. This side of the coin features a micro-laser engraved security element only visible with the aid of magnification.

These 2023 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are in protective capsules, with multiples of 20 in capsules and sealed together in plastic rolls. Multiples of 100 come in boxes with five rolls of coins in the box.
