2023 $10 10 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra BU

The Australian Silver Kookaburra Series from Perth Mint is one of the few in the world to offer a silver bullion weight outside of the traditional 1 oz and 1 Kilo silver options. Since 1992, this series has an included a 10 oz silver coin for investors.

Each 2023 10 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin available here at JM Bullion comes with an individual plastic capsule. The mint offers these coins in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The 10 oz coin, like its 1 Kilo counterpart, is available with an unlimited mintage. Perth Mint will continue to strike these coins until the next design in the series is ready for production.

While Perth Mint offers the 10 oz Silver Kookaburra with an unlimited mintage, this particular option has experienced declines in demand in recent years. Between 2011 and 2022, the highest mintage seen in the 10 oz weight was 45,901, and this came in 2011. More recently, the 2021 issue had a minuscule mintage, by comparison, of just 2,391 coins.

Obverse imagery on 2023 Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins includes a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown in right-profile relief in a 2015 design by Jody Clark. This visual is the sixth on Australian coins and makes its final appearance in this series following the Queen’s passing in September 2022.

Reverse design elements on the 2023 10 oz Silver Kookaburra Coin offer a depiction of two native elements to Australia. The two kookaburras, native members of the kingfisher species, are shown resting in the branches of the waratah plant, a native treasure in Australia.
