  • 36th issue of Austrian Gold Philharmonics!
  • Contains 1/4 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold in BU condition.

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1842 by Otto Nicolai, a German composer and conductor. The orchestra’s inaugural concert took place on March 28, 1842, at the Imperial and Royal Court Opera (now the Vienna State Opera).

The orchestra is renowned for its strong connection to the Viennese musical tradition. It has played a central role in the performance of the works of Austrian composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, and Gustav Mahler.

In the obverse design of the 2024 1/4 oz Gold Philharmonic Coin, the Austrian Mint features an image of the Great Pipe Organ. This design honors the third pipe organ installed in the Musikverein. Put in place in the 1910s, the Great Pipe Organ is located within the Golden Concert Hall inside the Musikverein.

For the reverse face of 2024 Austrian Gold Philharmonics, the mint depicts a collection of musical instruments. Representing some of the most common instruments used by members of the orchestra, this design includes a cello, violins, a bassoon, a harp, and a French horn.

These 2024 1/4 oz Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated. The 1/4 oz gold coins in this series are available in protective flips or plastic tubes of 20 coins. The 1/4 oz gold coin is one of the oldest in the series, debuting in 1989 alongside the 1 oz gold coin when the series launched.
