Since its introduction in 1982 with gold bullion coins, the Chinese Panda Series has become one of the most distinguished bullion coin collections available. The series includes five weights in gold and one in silver. In a notable development in 2016, the Chinese Mint was the first major sovereign mint to change its bullion coins from Troy ounces to grams.

Each 2025 8 Gram Chinese Gold Panda Coin comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and will be housed in a protective plastic pouch. Gold Panda Coins famously feature a new Giant Panda design concept each year. This year’s design focuses on the family unit and social structure with its depiction of a mother and two cubs.

Pandas have a relatively simple social structure compared to many other mammal species. Aside from brief mating encounters and a mother caring for her cubs, pandas have very little interaction with other pandas. They communicate primarily through scent marking, vocalizations, and visual displays.

Obverse visuals on the 2025 Chinese Gold Pandas feature the enduring image common to all Chinese Panda coins. This design showcases the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, located at the heart of the Temple of Heaven Complex. This iconic image has been a part of the Chinese Panda series since 1982.

Reverse design elements on the 2025 8 Gram Gold Panda Coins highlight the new design for the current release. This year’s artwork illustrates an adult panda sitting on its backside, manipulating bamboo with its paws in the foreground. Nearby, a small cub playfully interacts with the adult while another cub climbs on the rocks in the background.
