The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins have been available since 1979, but not all weights in this series have been available from the beginning. When the series started, only a 1 oz gold coin was available. When the Royal Canadian Mint first expanded the series, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz fractional gold coins were the first to debut.

In the obverse design of the 2025 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf is the all-new portrait of King Charles III. His Majesty is just the second monarch in the history of this program to feature on Maple Leaf Bullion Coins. This 2024 design from Steven Rosati depicts His Majesty in left-profile relief without a crown.

For the reverse side of 2025 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leaf Coins, the mint offers a glimpse of the sugar maple leaf. This design was created for the series in 1979 by Walter Ott and graces the reverse of all coins in the series, from all gold weights to the silver, platinum, and palladium versions of the coin.
